Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (500g)
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F / 43°C) (360ml)
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (30ml)
- 1 tsp sugar (4g)
- 2 tsp salt (10g)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Create the Dough: Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined; dough should be slightly sticky.
- Knead: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape: Punch down the risen dough, shape into a loaf or round ball, and place on parchment-lined baking sheet or greased loaf pan. Cover again and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
