Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup sushi rice
- 1 ¼ cups water
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- ½ tsp salt
- Fillings (cooked vegetables or tofu, chicken optional)
- Nori sheets (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine with water in a pot and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover tightly, and simmer for about 20 minutes until all water is absorbed and rice is tender.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Mix in rice vinegar and salt gently.
- Wet hands to prevent sticking. Take ¼ cup of cooled rice, flatten it, and add filling in the center.
- Fold edges over the filling and roll into a smooth ball shape.
- Optionally wrap each ball in nori strips for added flavor.
Notes
- Experiment with different fillings such as cheeses or spices to suit your taste.
- Allow rice to cool before shaping for easier handling and better texture.
