Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- Fresh cilantro (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a mixing bowl, combine flour and yeast. Gradually add warm water and yogurt while mixing until a dough forms. Knead until smooth.
- Let it rise: Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down and divide: Gently punch down the risen dough, then divide it into equal portions and roll each into a ball.
- Roll out naan: On a floured surface, roll each ball into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.
- Add garlic: Sprinkle minced garlic on one side of each rolled piece, pressing gently to adhere.
- Cook your naan: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 2 minutes per side until bubbly and browned, brushing with melted butter after cooking.
Notes
- For extra flavor, mix herbs like cilantro or spices such as cumin into the dough before rising.
- Store leftover naan in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days; reheat in a skillet or microwave.
