Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Gel food coloring (as desired)
- Decorative sprinkles (as desired)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time and mix in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Divide the dough into portions and mix in gel food coloring until you achieve your desired colors.
- Using a cookie scoop or spoon, place rounded tablespoons of dough on prepared sheets, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden; let cool before decorating.
Notes
- Chill the dough before rolling out to avoid stickiness.
- Experiment with flavors like lemon zest or almond extract for added variety.
