- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder

- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add sugar and mix until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add half of the dry ingredients followed by half of the milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding lemon zest or substituting vanilla extract with almond extract.
- Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for optimal results.
