  • 4 cups homemade mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until fragrant and translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add ground beef, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Cook until browned.
  4. Stir in diced carrots and frozen peas; sauté for another 5 minutes until heated through.
  5. Pour in beef broth and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. While the filling simmers, prepare creamy mashed potatoes if not already made.
  7. In a baking dish, layer the meat mixture first. Spread mashed potatoes on top and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
