- 4 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and slice the yellow onions into thin half-moons. Mince the garlic.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter with olive oil until bubbly.
- Add sliced onions and season with salt and pepper. Stir to coat evenly.
- After about 10 minutes, sprinkle sugar over the onions to begin caramelization.
- In the last five minutes of cooking, add minced garlic and thyme if using; cook until fragrant.
- Serve warm as a side or atop your favorite dishes.

- For extra flavor, try adding spices like paprika or a splash of balsamic vinegar during cooking.
