Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cups milk (or non-dairy alternative)
- 1 medium apple, diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp brown sugar (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional toppings: nuts or seeds
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients on your countertop.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine rolled oats and milk. Stir occasionally until it bubbles gently, about 5 minutes.
- Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract. Cook for an additional 3 minutes until apples soften but retain some crunch.
- If the oatmeal is too thick, stir in more milk until the desired consistency is reached.
- Serve warm in bowls and top with extra apple slices or nuts if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, swap out the apples for pears or mix in your favorite nuts.
- Drizzle with honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness if desired.
