Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground Beef (80/20)
- 2 Sliced Onions
- 4 Slices Swiss or American Cheese
- 4 Slices Rye or Sourdough Bread
- 4 tbsp Butter
Instructions
- Slice onions thinly and sauté in butter over medium heat until golden brown (about 10 minutes).
- Form ground beef into four patties and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook patties in the same skillet over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Top each patty with cheese and toast bread slices in another skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble by layering sautéed onions on each patty, then sandwich between two slices of toasted bread.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or jalapeños.
- Experiment with different cheeses like cheddar for a sharper taste.
- Toasting the bread prevents sogginess and enhances texture.
