  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and mix in granulated and brown sugars until combined.
  3. Allow to cool slightly, then whisk in eggs one at a time followed by vanilla until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Carefully mix in chocolate chips.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets about two inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  7. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
