- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (light)
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and mix in granulated and brown sugars until combined.
- Allow to cool slightly, then whisk in eggs one at a time followed by vanilla until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Carefully mix in chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets about two inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- For an extra twist, substitute chocolate chips with nuts or caramel pieces.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days.
