Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
- 1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- 2. Create the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add activated yeast mixture and olive oil; stir to form a sticky dough.
- 3. Knead: Flour your countertop lightly and knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4. Let it rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- 5. Shape sticks: Punch down the dough and roll it into long sticks (about 8 inches). Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 6. Add toppings: Brush each stick with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and Parmesan cheese.
- 7. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and let breadsticks rest for another 15 minutes. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Experiment by adding herbs like oregano or basil to the dough for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
