- 8 slices day-old white or whole wheat bread
 - 4 large eggs
 - 1 cup whole milk
 - 1 tsp ground cinnamon
 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar
 - 1 tsp vanilla extract
 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for frying)
 - 1/2 cup cream cheese, Nutella, or fruit preserves (for filling)
 
Instructions
- Trim the crusts from the bread and flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
 - Spread your chosen filling generously on one side of each slice.
 - Roll tightly from one end and secure with toothpicks if needed.
 - In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
 - Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll in the egg mixture before placing seam-side down in the skillet.
 - Cook until golden brown on all sides (about 3-4 minutes per side). Remove and place on paper towels to absorb excess grease.
 - Serve warm, topped with powdered sugar or maple syrup.
 
Notes
- For a nutty flavor twist, use almond milk instead of regular milk.
 - Add chocolate chips or berries to the filling for additional flavor.
