Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (2 for grits, 1 for sautéing)
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning
- Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
- Prepare Grits: In a medium saucepan, bring chicken broth to a boil. Gradually whisk in grits and reduce heat. Simmer for 20-25 minutes until thickened. Stir in heavy cream and 2 tbsp butter.
- Sauté Shrimp: In another pan, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add seasoned shrimp and cook until they turn pink (about 3-4 minutes).
- Final Touches: Remove from heat, drizzle with lemon juice, and stir in green onions. Serve shrimp over creamy grits.
Notes
- For added flavor, use homemade chicken stock instead of broth.
- Customize your dish with vegetables like bell peppers or spinach.
