Instructions

  1. Drain the firm tofu and press between paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes (about 1 inch).
  3. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, garlic powder, and optional ginger. Toss each tofu cube in the mixture until well coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  5. Fry tofu cubes in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  6. Remove tofu from oil and drain on paper towels. Drizzle with soy sauce and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
