Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup filtered water
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a medium saucepan, combine water and butter over medium heat until melted.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until a smooth ball forms (about 1-2 minutes).
- Let the dough cool slightly before adding eggs one at a time, mixing until glossy.
- Use a piping bag or two spoons to drop small mounds onto parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed; avoid opening the oven door during baking.
- While cooling, beat heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Once the puffs are cool, fill them with the whipped cream.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider using flavored extracts in the filling or incorporating fruit compotes.
- Ensure your oven is preheated to create the ideal puffing environment.
