Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup ketchup (plus more for topping)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ¼ cup whole milk
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, ketchup (reserve some for topping), chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, oregano, and milk. Mix thoroughly using your hands.
- Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or shape it freeform on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Pat down gently to ensure it stays together.
- Spread remaining ketchup generously over the top of the loaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For added flavor and nutrition, consider incorporating chopped bell peppers or zucchini into the meat mixture.
- You can replace ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
