Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt half a cup of sugar until golden brown to create caramel. Pour it into the prepared pan.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and eggs until smooth. Gradually add milk and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- In another bowl, blend whole milk with sweetened condensed milk and eggs until creamy.
- Pour half of the chocolate batter into the pan over the caramel layer. Gently layer the flan mixture on top without mixing them together.
- Place the cake pan in a larger baking dish filled with hot water and bake for 50-60 minutes until set.
- Allow to cool before flipping onto a plate.
Notes
- For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with almond or oat milk.
- Experiment with spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for added warmth and flavor.
- Allow sufficient cooling time for perfect layering; do not rush this step.
