Savor the irresistible crunch of these crispy Chinese beef pies, filled with seasoned ground beef and aromatic spices. Perfect for appetizers or snacks at any gathering!

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the ground beef until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Stir in onions, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  2. Add soy sauce, salt, and pepper; mix well and simmer for another 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares or circles.
  4. Spoon filling onto one half of each pastry piece, fold over, and seal edges with fingers or a fork.
  5. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  •  Assemble pies and freeze before baking for future snacks.
  • Swap ground beef with chicken or tofu; add sesame oil for extra flavor.
